On-Site Recovery
Gateway SSH Recovery
Restore remote SSH access to a 47Dynamics physical gateway appliance using a USB recovery assertion. No reboot required — the gateway stays online throughout the process.
Important Notes
- The gateway must remain powered on and running during this process. Do not reboot.
- The USB drive must be formatted as FAT32 or ext4. NTFS or exFAT will not work.
- The file must be placed in the root directory of the USB and must be named exactly
auto-import.assert.
Recovery Steps
Step 1
Download the Recovery File
Get the signed auto-import.assert file from the link below.
- Click the download button below to get auto-import.assert
- Save it to your computer — do not rename the file
- The file must remain named exactly: auto-import.assert
Step 2
Copy to USB Drive
Transfer the file to a FAT32 or ext4 formatted USB stick.
- Format a USB drive as FAT32 (Windows) or ext4 (Linux)
- Copy auto-import.assert to the ROOT of the USB — not inside any folder
- Safely eject the USB drive before removing it
Step 3
Insert into Gateway
Plug the USB into the running gateway appliance.
- Locate any USB port on the 47Dynamics gateway device
- Insert the USB drive while the gateway is RUNNING — do not reboot
- Wait 30-60 seconds for snapd to detect and auto-import the assertion
- You will hear/see no feedback — this is normal
Step 4
Verify SSH Access
Confirm you can now connect to the gateway remotely.
- Remove the USB drive from the gateway
- Notify your 47Dynamics administrator that the recovery is complete
- They will verify SSH access using the new recovery key
- If access still fails, re-insert the USB and wait another 60 seconds
